The Ultimate Reset Sunday
I’ve started dedicating my Sundays to a day to recharge, reflect, and prepare for the week ahead. Now, Sundays are my sanctuary, and I use it to reset my mind, body, and soul. Here’s how you can create your own Ultimate Reset Sunday, designed to help you feel more grounded and balanced during the week.
Start with a Slow Morning
Sundays are perfect for letting go of the weekday rush. Begin your day with a slow, intentional morning. This slow start sets the tone for a calm and peaceful day. Allow yourself to wake up naturally without an alarm if possible. Stretch your body gently and take a few deep breaths.
Start your morning with a glass of warm lemon water to hydrate your body. Open the windows and spend a few minutes outside. Then prepare a nutritious and delicious breakfast. Take this time to savour your meal without distractions, perhaps with a cup of herbal tea.
I love to sit by the window with my breakfast and journal about the past week. Reflecting on your achievements and challenges helps you to let go of the old and welcome the new week with a fresh mindset.
Nourish Your Body
Nourishing your body with healthy food gives you the energy and vitality you need to make the most of your day. What you eat plays a big role in how you feel. Use Sundays to prepare healthy snacks that will keep you energised throughout the week. Plan meals for the week to ensure you have nutritious options readily available. Make a list of groceries and if you feel you have the time and energy, there is nothing more satisfying than a restocked fridge.
Connect with Nature
Nature has a magical way of grounding us and bringing a sense of peace. Spend part of your Sunday outside. It could be a walk in the park, a hike, or even just lounging in your garden. The fresh air and greenery help to clear your mind and fill your soul with good energy.
Create a Peaceful Space
Organising your space can bring a sense of calm and order. Spend an hour decluttering your living space. Focus on one area at a time—your bedroom, kitchen, or workspace. Arrange your belongings in a way that makes you feel good. Use baskets, shelves, and boxes to keep things neat. Do a deep clean to your floors and bathroom. Open your windows to clear out energy and let in fresh air. Light a candle and put on music that makes you happy.
Cosy Hobbies
Spend some time doing something that simply brings you joy. Whether it’s a book, a podcast, a movie, or a new recipe you’ve been wanting to try, invest in a hobby that feeds your soul. The key is to do something that brings you joy and relaxation.
Gently Move Your Body
Sundays are perfect for restorative movement, this is not the day to exhaust yourself. Instead, focus on exercises that leave you feeling refreshed. A gentle yoga flow or a long stretching session can help release tension built up from the week. Of course if you have pent up energy or emotions to let out, go for a run or even try a boxing session. As always, listen to your body.
Getting outside and moving your body in nature can boost your mood and provide clarity. Walk without distractions—leave the headphones behind and tune into the sounds of nature. If you’re craving something a little more active, consider a leisurely bike ride, swimming, or a dance session. The key is to move your body in ways that feel good.
Digital Detox
Give yourself permission to unplug this sunday. You don’t have to go completely offline, but try to reduce your screen time. Resist the urge to scroll or check work emails. Instead, focus on being present with your surroundings. If you want to be more structured, set a specific time in the afternoon for catching up on messages or social media. For the rest of the day, put your phone on Do Not Disturb or leave it in another room.
Plan Your Week with Intention
Planning your week can reduce stress and increase productivity. It helps you feel more in control and prepared. Take some time to plan your week ahead. This doesn’t have to be a rigid schedule but rather an overview of your main goals and tasks. Use this moment to align your weekly activities with your bigger life goals. This intentional planning helps you to stay focused and reduces the stress of unexpected surprises.
Consider also planning your meals for the upcoming week. I use a planner that integrates cycle syncing – this means planning my tasks, foods, and time for rest around the different phases of my menstrual cycle. This way, I can flow with my natural energy levels and feel more in tune with my body.
Wind Down
As the evening winds down, it’s essential to create a sense of closure for the day. This final step will ensure that you go into the new week with a calm mind and a rested body. Prepare for bed with a calming night-time routine. Avoid screens an hour before bed, dim the lights, and maybe sip on some herbal tea. Reading or listening to calming music can ease your mind into a restful state.
Final Thoughts
Reset Sunday is about finding what helps you feel restored and refreshed for the week ahead. By dedicating just one day to rest, reflect, and prepare, you can set yourself up for a more balanced and stress-free week.
